President’s Message
WELCOME 2009!
Greetings and Happy New Year to all our guild members! I certainly hope your holidays were warm and joyful, and that the coming year brings all that you hope for.
Now that the winter festivities are over with and we are still in the grip of winter’s icy fingers, it’s a great excuse to get some fantastic quilting done!!
I want to mention that it was nice to see everyone who attended the Christmas party this year. I hope everyone had a great time! A special mention of thanks goes out to those who brought in items to donate to the less fortunate this past year. Your kindness and generosity went a far way in making other people’s season more comfortable.
I would also like to thank the handful of people for their wonderful volunteering efforts over the past few months. Without your help ladies, we certainly would not have been able to enjoy the activities that we did!! A job well done!!
The next few months will see different events planned for our guild. Again, I would like to take this opportunity to stress the importance of volunteering. The more people we have contributing – even a small effort, ladies- will go a VERY LONG way in making the guild as exciting as we all know it can be! I hope that we can get a full participation from everyone, and in doing so, we ALL can have fun, learn new skills and strengthen/create bonds within our membership.
I look forward with great anticipation to the upcoming events for this year! I hope that you will look upon your membership with a renewed sense of inspiration to create new things, learn new skills and see the wonderful opportunity to have your efforts contributed in a collective way to make our guild the very best it can be. Let’s have a WONDERFUL 2009 everyone!

January Program
Drumroll please....
We are very pleased to announce that Yvette Smallwood has agreed to come and do a color presentation for us this month. Working with color is a skill we need in all our areas of our lives, whether it pertains to home decor or simply getting dressed in the morning. Yvette’s impressive experience in quilting gives her much to share with us this Thursday so be sure not to miss it.
Winter Retreat Information
Retreat packages will be ready for pick up at the January Meeting. Please see Donna Towndrow or Carol Larose to get yours. If you are unable to attend, then please contact Donna or Carol to make alternate arrangements.
Help Wanted!
Our lovely hostesses, Barb Few and Liz Curtis have recently been informed that they are responsible for garbage removal and sweeping up after our meetings. This is in additional to the responsibilities of feeding us goodies, serving us coffee and juice, lugging all the equipment upstairs, and lugging all the equipment downstairs. At the January meeting there will be a sign up sheet for volunteers to help with these tasks.
Coming Soon!
Our Quilt Show has been booked! We will be hosting the 2009 Quilt Show in October of 2009. This is an amazing event for our guild and a wonderful opportunity to show the community what we are about. If you would like to volunteer for the quilt Show committee please see Bradie or Gerri.
ALSO.... The Canadian Quilter’s Association Quilt Show and Workshop is being held in May and classes are already filling up. For more info, please visit:

A Big Thanks
We would like to send out a big Thank you to Carol Vaage for her time spent as webmaster of our website these past few years. She has done a beautiful job on the site and her efforts are much appreciated.

Phyllis has organized another exciting UFO date for us on Saturday, February 21, 2009. We will meet again the Whitecroft Hall and the cost is still just $10. Pretty good price to get together and quilt all day! Sign up sheets will be ready at the February meeting.
